Pear Tart with Cardamom Caramel Sauce

  • Author: Sweta Patel
  • Total Time: 25

Ingredients

Scale

Pear tarts

  • 2 pears sliced
  • 1 packet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash
  • 4 tsp brown sugar

Caramel Cardamom Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • pinch of salt
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamon

Instructions

Pear tart

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out your puff pastry and divide your rectangular shaped puff pastry into 4 rectangles. With a sharp knife, cut an “L”  into 2 opposing corners, don’t cut all the way but leave a ½-inch in two corners.
  2. Pick up the cut corners of the pastry, cross them over each other (one over, one under) and lay them flat (now on opposite sides). Brush the tops of the pastry with the egg wash and place sliced pears on top. Spinkle 1tsp of brown sugar on top of each tart.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until pears are soft and pastry is golden

Caramel Cardamom Sauce

  1. In a sauce pan, heat up the butter and add the brown sugar. Stir until everything is dissolved and add the pinch of salt and ground cardamom. Next slowly add the cream and whisk until you have a smooth caramel sauce. Keep on warm until tarts are done.
  2. Once tarts are done cooking, drizzle on the caradmon caramel sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • I used Pepperidge farms puff pastry, and only used 1 sheet for this recipe.
  • You can skin the pears or leave them as is.
  • Dust on some powdered sugar if you like, definitely add a extra sweetness.
