Ingredients
- 1 cup moong daal
- 3 cups water
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 tomato diced
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 green chili finely diced
- 6 cloves of garlic – grated
- 1/2 tbsp ginger – grated
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp each: garam masala, ground coriander, red chili powder, salt and sugar
Garnish
- Chopped cilantro, sliced limes and thinly sliced red onions
Instructions

Start the instant pot in SAUTE mode and heat oil in it. Add cumin seeds, green chili and saute for 30 seconds.

Add onions, ginger and garlic. Saute for 2 minutes.

Add chopped tomato all the spices and stir until everything is well incorporated.

Add mung and water. Stir everything on last time. Press CANCEL and close the instant pot lid with vent in sealing position.

Press Pressure Cook mode for 11 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally (NPR).

Once it’s naturally released, open the lid and give everything a stir and serve. Garnish with cilantro, onions and fresh squeeze of lime juice.
