30 Minutes

Sometimes we all need a nurturing wholesome meal that’s packed with nutrients and bring that nostalgic taste that will take you back in time and remind you of your mom’s home cooked meals.

You see growing up I hated mung (green moong dal), it was the one dish I could not stand. Now as a grown adult I gravitate towards making mung every week. I’m pretty sure my taste buds have changed over the years because how could I eat something twice a week that I once hated! It’s an easy, delicious meal that only takes 11 minutes to cook in the instant pot.

A ton of you asked for easy weeknight meals that you can make in the instant pot and I’m here for it!

Mung is so easy to make in the instant pot and the best part is you don’t need to pre soaking. Mung is a smaller lentil and does cook very fast, hence the 11 mins. But it’s also filled with protein and serves well with rice or roti.

For stove top method, simply follow instructions just like the ones below up to step 5. Once everything is added into a pot simply cover with a lid and cook on medium heat for 15-17 mins or until mung are fork tender.
