5 Minutes

This chocolate mug cake recipe has no eggs and can be made for one or two. It is one of the easiest dessert recipes you’ll ever make and it comes together in less than 5 minutes!

I’m a sucker for a good lava cake, but no one has time for a dominos pick up or time to preheat the oven. I’ll be honest with you mug cakes were my worst nightmares growing up because I could never get the consistency right since I was adding eggs. I also thought the cake smelled and tasted like scrambled eggs because 1 egg for a small mug cake was just too much and adding half an egg was just not cutting it.

So over the years I gave up until one day I was making pancakes and noticed the batter consistency was very similar to cake and just cooking it on the stove top created the same cake like texture. So after putting a little pancake batter into a mug and microwaving it, it was the perfect mug cake!

Before you think this recipe is a pancake batter re-do, ITS NOT!! Haha I would never play ya’ll out like that.

This recipe is super easy and and only requires the baking essentials we probably all have in our pantry. Aside from the flour, baking powder, sugar and chocolate chips, you will need coco powder for this recipe. This is honestly the secret ingredient that makes the world of a difference! The coco powder makes the cake super soft, moist and most importantly gives it the cake like texture without being super caky and dry.
