Sip Into Bliss: How to Make the Perfect Chocolate Espresso Martini

Are you ready to take your cocktail game to the next level? Say hello to the Chocolate Espresso Martini—a creamy, decadent drink that’s equal parts sophisticated and fun! It’s the ultimate pick-me-up for cozy nights in or the star of your next holiday gathering. With a freshly brewed double shot of espresso, indulgent Baileys Belgian Chocolate liqueur, and a hint of bourbon maple syrup, this martini is the perfect blend of rich chocolatey goodness and coffee-infused zing.

Whether you’re team vodka or tequila (yes, tequila in a martini—hear us out!), this cocktail is versatile enough to cater to your mood. Let’s shake things up, shall we?

Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Espresso Martini

Coffee Meets Dessert: It’s a drinkable dessert with a caffeine kick.

Indulgent Yet Simple: Only a handful of ingredients stand between you and cocktail perfection.

Customizable: Vodka gives it a clean, classic taste, while tequila adds a smoky, bold edge.

Ingredients You’ll Need

For one heavenly Chocolate Espresso Martini, gather:

Freshly brewed espresso: Double shot (hot or cooled)

Baileys Belgian Chocolate Liqueur: 1.5 oz for that rich, creamy texture

Bourbon maple syrup: 1 tablespoon for a hint of sweetness

Vodka or tequila: 1.5 oz—choose your adventure!

Ice: Because no one likes a lukewarm martini

Optional garnish: Chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or even a few espresso beans

How to Make It

  1. Brew the Espresso: Start with the freshest espresso you can get your hands on—this is the backbone of your martini. A strong, aromatic shot is key.
  2. Chill It: If you have time, let the espresso cool slightly. Hot espresso works too, but chilled prevents melting the ice too quickly when you shake it.
  3. Shake It Up: In a cocktail shaker, combine the espresso, Baileys Belgian Chocolate Liqueur, bourbon maple syrup, and vodka or tequila. Add a generous handful of ice.
  4. Shake Vigorously: Channel your inner mixologist and shake until the outside of the shaker feels frosty.
  5. Strain & Pour: Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass for that classic, elegant look.
  6. Garnish Like a Pro: Add chocolate shavings, a light dusting of cocoa powder, or a trio of espresso beans for a finishing touch.

Pro Tips for Cocktail Success

  • Go Premium: Use high-quality espresso, spirits, and liqueur for the best flavor.
  • Maple Syrup Hack: Bourbon maple syrup adds a subtle smoky sweetness, but regular maple syrup works in a pinch.
  • Homemade Biscoff Syrup: Add a little bit of my biscoff syrup and make this espresso martini even better!
  • Make Ahead: Brew the espresso ahead of time and keep it in the fridge to speed up the process.
  • To Ahead a Big Batch: Triple up the measurements and pour the espresso, maple syrup, alcohol of choice and chocolate liquor. Mix everything together and place in the fridge, when ready to serve shake everything up in a cocktail shaker and pour into chilled glasses!

When to Serve Your Chocolate Espresso Martini

This cocktail is ideal for:

  • Holiday Parties: A showstopper drink that doubles as dessert.
  • Brunch: Who says martinis are only for evenings? Pair this with pancakes or pastries for a bougie twist.
  • Date Nights: Impress your partner with your pro-level mixology skills.
