Description

This three-cheese baked ziti is the comfort food recipe you need on a rainy day (literal or metaphorical!). With a golden brown panko crust and a blend of cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese, this classic Italian dish will take you less than an hour to make – and even less to devour.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1lb ziti boiled, rinsed
  • 1 onion – diced
  • 4 cloves garlic – minced
  • 1 tbsp Calabrian chili paste
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 5 cups Marinara sauce of choice
  • 23 tbsp heavy whipping cream or cream cheese.
  • 112oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 cups yellow cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1.  In a sauce pan, heat up oil and cook the onions and garlic on med/high heat for 3-5 mins. Next add the Calabrian chili paste, 2 tsp Italian seasoning and stir combine. Add marinara sauce of choice and simmer for 5 mins.
  2. Add the heavy whipping cream into the sauce and turn off heat, stir in the cooked pasta and set aside.
  3.  In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese along with egg, salt + pepper and all the cheeses (cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan cheese)
  4. In a baking pan, transfer half of the pasta, next add dollops of ricotta cheese mixture. Add the remaining pasta on top, followed by another layer of ricotta cheese mixture. Sprinkle on the breadcrumbs and bake at 350°F for 15-20 mins. Enjoy!
