I’m kicking off this Diwali with a fun and extravagant Diwali Dessert Box! When I was younger, every year my parents would make us go house hopping to all of our relatives house and hand out a box of Indian sweets. As much as I hated that as a child, I truly miss it now as an adult! I know this year Diwali is going to be very different and not being able to see my family makes it even wore. I wanted to create something that you can drop off to a family or loved ones house, or you ship them a beautiful Diwali box like I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use an array of different desserts or even Diya’s like I did. I wanted to send a box that was filled with personal items but also meaningful, I did use store bought macaroons because I didn’t have time to make them and also its something that everyone loves, but I also filled the box with some nuts, chocolate bars and even Indian snacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to add a couple of my home made desserts as well including my families favorite; Gulab jamun Donuts and no bake protein bites! I did a mixture of Indian + American desserts because its a great way to please everyone from, kids, adults and even grandparents!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assembling the Diwali Dessert Box<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

I used a wooden jewelry box<\/a> that I purchased at hobby lobby, using the 40% off coupon the box cam out to be under $5.00! I know right, what a steal! So I did take off the glass hinged top for photography purposes, but I definitely recommend you leave the top on because its the perfect way to close your box and its always nice to have a top and seal the box shut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you can’t find this particular wooden box, you can find a scrapbook box <\/a>at your local Micheals and use foam board<\/a> to cut out separate sections and compartments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also use mini cup cake liners to hold small ladoos or even dried fruits and nuts. I love using cup cake liners because it adds a lot of flare and texture to the box overall but its easy to throw away and absorbs all the oil from the ladoos or protein bites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use large cup cake liners along with small bowls or even plates to place your desserts, this is the perfect time to even gift the plates or small bowls you may. I have found so many nice small bowls at Anthropologie <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
