These beginner-friendly Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits are a spicy twist on classic Southern biscuits and take less than 30 minutes to come together.

As a Georgia resident, it’s safe to say that Southern food is a big thing around here. One of the staples of classic Southern food is light, fluffy biscuits. Whether you pair yours with things like fried chicken, gravy, or homemade jam, there’s nothing like biscuits to bring a nostalgic yet delicious addition to your meal.

Classic Southern biscuits are delicious, but sometimes, you want to add a little spice to your life. And as always, that’s what I’m here to do. This twist on a Southern staple is still buttery crispy and delicious on the outside but packed with even more flavor and texture on the inside.

The nuttiness from the sharp yellow cheddar cheese and heat from the jalapenos make these Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits by far the best biscuits I’ve ever had!

I do recommend making these the day of so they can be served fresh, which will get you that nice buttery, softness. However, if you do happen to make them the day before – totally fine! – you can simply cover them in foil and place the biscuits in the oven for about 15-20 minutes at 250 F.

I love to serve these biscuits with a mixture of butter and Mike’s Hot Honey and when I tell you it’s an out-of-this-world delicious combination, I mean your soul may leave your body and re-enter it again all in the same bite.

You can also chop up some scallions and mix them with cream cheese to spread on the biscuit as well. And in classic Southern fashion, of course, you can also use your favorite jam or jelly and make a breakfast sandwich out of it.

The point is: the combinations are endless!

Making Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits is great for Thanksgiving or any other holiday and special occasion. They make great breakfast leftovers the next day and seriously get so many uses out of one recipe! Not to mention, this recipe is addicting.

Why I Love this Recipe

The best part is that this biscuit recipe is completely eggless and can be made dairy-free or vegan by substituting the heavy whipping cream and butter for your preferred alternatives.

I used Silk’s dairy-free heavy whipping cream and these biscuits still came out great, so you won’t be compromising the taste or texture at all!

It’s such a beginner-friendly recipe as well.

The Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits don’t require too many complex ingredients and nearly everything can be found in your pantry. Plus, since you don’t have to worry about over-mixing the batter, it’s extremely approachable, so you can switch up the jalapenos and/or the cheddar cheese for whatever you can think up!

For example, instead of jalapenos, you could go for serrano peppers to get some extra heat. You could also swap out the cheddar cheese for white cheddar cheese or even pepper jack or habanero cheese.

A recipe like this will help you build confidence and creativity in the kitchen, so I encourage you to make it fun and make it yours!
